Nagpur: A real estate businessman was allegedly cheated of ?50 lakh after four individuals attempted to sell him two plots using forged documents in the Jaripatka police jurisdiction.
The complainant, Yeshirajyam Raghunath Narayanswami (60), a resident of Guru Govind Vihar, Krishi Nagar, Jaripatka, told police that accused Ashish Vaman Belekhar (42), his mother Nalini Belekhar (65), Indrayani Atul Wasnik (40), all from NIT Colony, Vaishali Nagar, and broker Jitu Thakur alias Jitendra Ghevatonde of Gorewada conspired to execute the fraud. Jitu, who works as a plot broker, was known to the complainant.
In 2020, Jitu showed Narayanswami two plots at Misale Layout in Mouza Indora, claiming they belonged to Nalini. The deal was finalised for ?1.60 crore, and as per the agreement, the complainant paid ?60.50 lakh via RTGS and cheques.
However, when Narayanswami later verified the property documents, he discovered that the sale deed, possession receipt, and no-objection certificate were forged. When he demanded his money back, the accused returned ?10 lakh but allegedly dodged repayment of the remaining amount.
Following a complaint, Jaripatka police registered a case of cheating against all four accused and have initiated further investigation.
