A devastating hit-and-run accident near RBI Square in the Sadar police limits claimed the lives of two siblings, while their father sustained serious injuries late Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 10.35 pm when a speeding truck (NL 01 AG 0868), driven rashly and negligently, crashed into a motorcycle (MH 31 FK 1811) from behind and fled the scene.
The collision resulted in the on-the-spot death of 11-year-old Rudra Sunil Singaldhupe. His 12-year-old sister, Simran Singaldhupe, was rushed to Mayo Hospital but was declared dead during treatment. Their father, 56-year-old Sheshnathsingh Jageshwarsingh, also riding with them, suffered grievous injuries and is undergoing treatment at Shantimohan Hospital.
A swift police response led to the detention of the absconding truck driver in the Sitabuldi area. Based on the complaint filed by PSI Ashish Hirasinh Jadhav, Sadar Police arrested the accused, identified as 37-year-old Sahendar Pancham Bin of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
A case has been registered under Sections 281, 125(a), 125(b), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
