Family Opposition Suspected Behind Brutal Assault
Nagpur: A 28-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after attacking a woman with a knife in the early hours of Thursday, December 4. The incident, which has shocked residents, was reported at around 3:30 am under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Balaji Kalyane, a native of Nanded. He was preparing for police recruitment exams and was staying on rent in Nagpur.
According to police sources, the woman is a close family member of Kalyane. He allegedly wished to marry her, but her father opposed the relationship. Despite repeated attempts, the woman and her father did not accept his proposal. In anger, Kalyane allegedly forced his way into the woman’s house around 3 am on Thursday and attacked her with a knife.
After the assault, Kalyane was found dead. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide, but are also examining the possibility of foul play. The injured woman has been admitted to a local hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
A case has been registered at Nandanvan Police Station and further investigation is underway.
