The Ministry of Civil Aviation has taken urgent and proactive measures to address the ongoing disruption in flight schedules, particularly affecting IndiGo Airlines. The Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) orders of the DGCA have been placed in abeyance with immediate effect. This decision, taken without compromising air safety, prioritizes passengers, including senior citizens, students, patients, and others who depend on timely air travel for essential needs.
Several operational measures have been directed to ensure normal airline services are restored at the earliest and passenger inconvenience is minimized. With immediate implementation of these directives, flight schedules are expected to begin stabilizing by tomorrow, with full restoration anticipated within three days.
To support passengers during this period, airlines have been instructed to provide regular and accurate updates via enhanced online systems, enabling real-time tracking of flight status. In case of cancellations, full refunds will be issued automatically, and passengers stranded due to delays will be provided hotel accommodations arranged directly by the airlines.
Special priority is being accorded to senior citizens and differently-abled passengers, who will be given lounge access and all possible assistance. Additionally, refreshments and essential services will be provided to all affected passengers.
The Ministry has established a 24×7 Control Room (011-24610843, 011-24693963, 096503-91859) to monitor the situation in real time, ensuring swift corrective action, effective coordination, and immediate resolution of issues.
High-Level Inquiry Ordered
The Government of India has decided to institute a high-level inquiry into the disruption. The inquiry will examine the causes, determine accountability, and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, ensuring passengers do not face such hardships again.
Assurance to the Nation
The Central Government remains fully alert to passenger difficulties and is in continuous consultation with airlines and stakeholders. All necessary measures, including regulatory relaxations permitted by the DGCA, are being taken to stabilize airline operations and minimize public inconvenience.
Passenger care, safety, and convenience remain the highest priority of the Government of India
