The Rugby Association of Nagpur is delighted to announce that Vanshika Surekha Dharmaraj Dodake has been selected for the Under-15 West Zone Khelo India Asmita Rugby League, scheduled on 13 and 14 December 2025 at Ajmer, Rajasthan. Another proud achievement added to the crown of Rugby Association of Nagpur.
The Maha Camp and Selection Trials were organised by the Rugby Association of Maharashtra from 6 to 10 December 2025 at Barnes School and Junior College, Devlali, Nashik. From across Maharashtra, around 50 players participated in the Under-15 category.
After final evaluation, a team of 12 players was selected, and Vanshika earned her place in the Maharashtra squad. This itself is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to her progress, discipline and ability.
Vanshika previously represented Nagpur at the Under-14 School National Rugby Championship 2024, where she won a Bronze Medal. Her growth from district to national platforms reflects her hard work and potential.
She hails from a tribal background in Nagpur. Her father is a farmer and her mother works as a labourer. With limited means but strong determination, Vanshika has pushed herself beyond challenges to reach this level. She is now motivating many young girls from Nagpur and nearby tribal belts to believe in themselves, enter sports and aim high.
As per the view of Amar Bhandarwar, Coach & Secretary, Rugby Association of Nagpur and Various Maharashtra Senior Coaches, “if Vanshika maintains consistency in training and dedication, she has strong potential to represent India in international championships in the coming years. They also conveyed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her future.”
The Rugby Association of Nagpur expresses gratitude to the Rugby Association of Maharashtra for providing a platform for young athletes through the Maha camp and trials. Their efforts continue to shape and strengthen the future of rugby in the state.
All members, players and well-wishers of the Rugby Association of Nagpur are proud of Vanshika’s achievement and excited to watch her shine further in her rugby journey.
