The Orange City Cultural Foundation will host a two-day Marathi Film Festival on December 13 and 14 at the Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Auditorium, Persistent Systems Ltd, Gayatri Nagar. The announcement was made by Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, Founder President of the Foundation, during a press conference on Tuesday.
The festival is being organised in collaboration with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), Mokra Arts, Cine Montage, Saptak, and Persistent Systems.
The inauguration will take place on December 13 at 11:30 am. Cultural Affairs Minister Adv Ashish Shelar will preside over the opening ceremony, while RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar and NMC Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari will be present as special guests.
A unique feature of the festival is that the directors of the films will attend the screenings and participate in interactive question-and-answer sessions with the audience, offering insights into their creative process. A panel discussion titled “Marathi Chitrapat—Kal, Aaj aur Kal” will also be held on December 13 at 3 pm, featuring Shailendra Bagde (Director, GOT), Chhatrapal Ninawe (Director, Ghaat), Janardan Kadam (Actor, Ghaat), and Vinod Kamble (Director, Kastoori).
On December 13, the films Ghaat, Sthal, and Valu will be screened from noon onward, followed by April May 99, Ventilator, and Samhita on December 14.
Entry is free and does not require prior registration. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and only those above 16 years of age will be allowed. Dr Meshram and Dr Uday Gupte appealed to citizens to attend, calling the festival a tribute to the depth and diversity of Marathi cinema and an inspiration for aspiring filmmakers.
