Chaos erupted in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on the fifth day of the Winter Session after Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Hemant Patil alleged that visitor passes were being sold illegally for ₹1,500 each. Patil said some of his workers, who were earlier denied entry despite having authorised letters, were later found inside the legislature premises. When questioned, they allegedly admitted to purchasing passes. Patil warned that such malpractice poses a serious security threat, saying, “If passes are being sold, even terrorists could enter.”
NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Amol Mitkari supported the concern, reminding the House that passes were supposed to be restricted to reduce crowding. Instead, the premises were “overflowing with people,” making movement difficult. He questioned how so many passes were being issued despite official limits.
Presiding Officer Krupal Tumane took cognisance of the matter and ordered a detailed inquiry to identify who issued the illegal passes and who collected the money
