A workshop was set ablaze in the MIDC area following a dispute over a worker changing his job. The incident occurred near the Lava petrol pump, under the jurisdiction of the MIDC police station. The main accused has been identified as Prem Vishwakarma (29), a resident of Mahadevnagar, Lava, along with two accomplices.
According to police, the workshop belongs to Chandrashekhar Shankarraoji Kumbhare (38) of Vitthalwadi, who runs Prime Rewinding near the petrol pump. Prem had earlier worked at the workshop run by Chandrashekhar’s father and recently started his own workshop on Khadgaon Road.
A worker, Dhiraj Kulsunge, who was employed with Prem, left his job four days ago and joined Chandrashekhar’s workshop. Angered by this, Prem and his accomplices allegedly poured petrol on Chandrashekhar’s workshop on Saturday morning and set it on fire.
The accused also vandalised and set ablaze a car and a motorcycle parked outside the workshop, causing significant damage to property and vehicles. Chandrashekhar later lodged a complaint with the MIDC police.
Police have registered a case of arson and damage to property against Prem Vishwakarma and his accomplices. Further investigation is underway.
