With a surge in tourist arrivals expected during the New Year celebrations, the Amravati district administration has announced temporary traffic regulations for Chikhaldara to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety.
Chikhaldara, often referred to as the “Nandanvan of Vidarbha,” is likely to witness heavy tourist inflow, prompting authorities to introduce a one-way traffic system on the ghat routes. As per orders issued by District Collector Ashish Yerekar, the arrangement will be in force from Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Under the new traffic plan, vehicles travelling towards Chikhaldara will be allowed to use the Paratwada–Dhamangaon Gadhi–Chikhaldara route. Vehicles returning from Chikhaldara will be required to take the Chikhaldara–Ghatang–Paratwada route, which will function strictly as a one-way road during the specified period.
Officials said the decision has been taken in view of the narrow ghat roads and the anticipated rush of tourists during the holiday period. The administration has clarified that local residents of villages situated along these routes will be exempted from the one-way traffic restrictions.
Authorities have urged tourists and motorists to follow the traffic guidelines and cooperate with enforcement agencies to avoid congestion and ensure safety during the New Year festivities.
