The medical fraternity in Nagpur has been left in shock and mourning following the sudden demise of noted neurosurgeon and neurologist Dr Chandrashekhar Pakhmode. Dr Pakhmode, who was closely associated with Neuron Hospital in Dhantoli, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 31, after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 50.
According to available information, Dr Pakhmode suffered a sudden myocardial infarction in the early morning hours. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) administered until around 6 am, he could not be revived. Senior cardiologists from Nagpur were reportedly present and extended immediate medical assistance from around 4.30 am onwards, but all efforts to save him proved unsuccessful.
Widely respected for his clinical expertise and commitment to patient care, Dr Pakhmode was regarded as one of the leading neurosurgeons in the region. Over the years, he had treated thousands of patients and played a key role in strengthening advanced neurological and neurosurgical services in central India. His sudden demise has created a void not only in the city’s healthcare system but also among patients who trusted him for complex and critical treatments.
Colleagues and members of the medical community described his passing as a major loss to the doctors’ fraternity, highlighting his professional dedication, compassionate approach and contributions to neurosurgery.
Dr Pakhmode’s untimely death has triggered an outpouring of grief across Nagpur, with condolences pouring in from doctors, patients and well-wishers. His legacy as a skilled surgeon and healer is expected to be remembered for years to come.
