Nagpur:
With large crowds expected to hit the streets to ring in the New Year, Nagpur police have announced a series of traffic restrictions and route diversions across the city to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety on New Year’s Eve.
According to an official notification issued by the traffic police, temporary restrictions will be enforced on several key roads from the evening of December 31, 2025. Authorities anticipate heavy footfall, particularly by youths, which could lead to congestion, rash driving and safety concerns if left unregulated.
In the Futala Lake area, vehicular movement will be completely restricted on roads connecting Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir, Vayusenanagar and Futala Basti during the notified hours. On West High Court Road, traffic on both carriageways between Law College Square and Shankarnagar Square may be closed as per ground conditions.
Two-way traffic on major flyovers, including Bardi-Gowari Flyover, Sadar Flyover (Katol Road–Mankapur), LIC to Pili Nadi Sai Mandir Flyover and Mehendibagh Flyover, may also be suspended depending on the prevailing situation. On-duty police officers and traffic personnel will have the authority to divert vehicles to alternative routes as required.
Additionally, traffic moving from Kamal Chowk towards Pachpaoli Police Station will be diverted. Vehicles will be required to turn right near Kamal Talkies wall compound, proceed straight towards Sindhu College and then take a right turn to reach Pachpaoli Police Station. This diversion will remain effective from December 31, 2025, to January 30, 2026, in view of ongoing construction work in the area.
The restrictions related to New Year celebrations will remain in force from 6 pm on December 31 till 6 am on January 1, 2026. Police have urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, follow traffic advisories and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
