As many as 632 teachers have been found guilty in the Shalarth ID scam that has shaken the Nagpur division, according to the final administrative inquiry report submitted to the state government.
The report was submitted on December 31 by Mahesh Palkar, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, who conducted the administrative probe.
The scam has sent shockwaves through the education department, with hundreds of teachers now facing disciplinary action for their alleged involvement in fraudulent manipulation of the Shalarth ID system.
In connection with the Shalarth ID case, the state government had constituted a Special Inquiry Committee on August 7 under the chairmanship of Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Divisional Commissioner, Pune. Mahesh Palkar was appointed as the inquiry officer for the committee.
While the government-level inquiry was in progress, Nagpur Police were simultaneously conducting a parallel investigation and making arrests.
So far, several officials have been taken into custody, including Deputy Directors of Education, Education Officers, salary unit staff, as well as representatives of institution managements and clerical employees
