Residents seeking a durable Aadhaar PVC card will now have to pay more, as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised the service charges for the card with effect from January 1, 2026. The cost of obtaining the pocket-sized Aadhaar PVC card has been increased to Rs 75, up from the earlier fee of Rs 50.
This is the first revision in charges for the Aadhaar PVC card since its nationwide rollout in 2020. The revised fee applies to all requests placed through the myAadhaar website and the mAadhaar mobile application, and is applicable to all fresh orders submitted from the effective date.
According to UIDAI, the revised fee of Rs 75 is inclusive of taxes and delivery charges. In a recent memorandum, the authority confirmed the official increase in the cost of ordering the Aadhaar PVC card.
The Aadhaar PVC card is a plastic, pocket-sized version of the Aadhaar card, similar in size to a debit or credit card. Designed for greater durability, it comes with enhanced security features and is easier to carry than the paper Aadhaar letter. Despite the different format, the PVC card holds the same legal validity as the paper Aadhaar letter and the e-Aadhaar.
Explaining the reason for the hike, UIDAI stated that the cost of materials, printing, secure delivery and logisticsinvolved in the production and distribution of the Aadhaar PVC card has increased over the years. The revision, the authority said, was undertaken in view of rising operational expenditure and to ensure continued high-quality service delivery.
UIDAI also clarified that all formats of Aadhaar—original paper Aadhaar, Aadhaar PVC card and e-Aadhaar—carry the same information and are equally valid for use.
Once an Aadhaar PVC card request is processed, the printed card is handed over to Speed Post within five working days. Delivery timelines thereafter depend on standard postal schedules and may vary based on the recipient’s geographical location.
