In view of the India–New Zealand T20 cricket match scheduled to be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium, Jamtha, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has decided to extend metro train services late into the night to facilitate the smooth movement of cricket fans.
On the day of the match, metro services will operate until 12:00 midnight, and if required, services may be extended further depending on passenger demand. The decision has been taken to ensure a safe, convenient, and congestion-free travel experience for spectators attending the high-profile international match.
A joint planning and review meeting was held at Metro Bhavan involving Shri Anil Kokate, Director (Strategic Planning), Maha Metro, Shri Sanjay Badkas, Secretary, Vidarbha Cricket Association, and other officials. The meeting focused on coordinated measures to ensure efficient crowd management and seamless passenger movement on match day.
To further enhance connectivity, Nagpur Municipal Corporation buses will operate as feeder services between Khapri Metro Station and VCA Jamtha Stadium, helping reduce road traffic congestion. Additionally, paid bus services will be available from the New Airport Metro Station for travel to and from the stadium.
The last metro train will depart from Khapri Metro Station at 12:00 midnight. Passengers will be able to travel directly up to Automotive Square, or interchange at Sitabuldi to access either direction of the Aqua Line. Metro trains will operate at 10-minute intervals throughout the extended service period.
VCA Jamtha Stadium is located approximately 6 km from Khapri Metro Station and 7 km from New Airport Metro Station. Maha Metro has appealed to cricket enthusiasts to make maximum use of metro services to avoid traffic congestion after the match and ensure a safe and swift return journey.
