Exit polls on Thursday predicted a decisive win for the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, pointing to a setback for the Shiv Sena (UBT)–Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) combine.
According to the My Axis India exit poll, the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance is projected to win 131–151 of the 227 wards in Mumbai, with an estimated vote share of 42 per cent. The Shiv Sena (UBT)–MNS–NCP (SP) alliance is expected to secure 58–68 seats with a 32 per cent vote share. The Congress–Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi–Rashtriya Samaj Paksha alliance may win 12–16 seats with 13 per cent votes, while independents and smaller parties such as the NCP, AIMIM and Left groups could take 6–12 seats.
The Saam TV exit poll suggests the BJP may win 84 seats and its ally Shiv Sena 35 in Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) is projected to get 65 seats, MNS 10, and NCP (SP) two.
In Pune, Saam TV predicts the BJP will emerge as the largest party with 70 seats, followed by the NCP with 55. The Ajit Pawar-led NCP (SP) may win 10 seats, Shiv Sena 12, Congress eight, while Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS could win five and two seats respectively.
In Thane, considered a stronghold of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the Shiv Sena is expected to win 72 seats and the BJP 26. Sena (UBT) and MNS are projected to win three and two seats respectively.
The Jubilant Data Studio exit poll forecasts 127–155 seats for the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance in Mumbai, 44–64 for the Shiv Sena (UBT)–MNS–NCP (SP) alliance, and 16–25 for the Congress-led front. It also projects strong performances for the BJP in Pune and Shiv Sena in Thane.
Meanwhile, the JVC exit poll estimates the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance could win around 138 seats in Mumbai with a vote share of 42–45 per cent. The Shiv Sena (UBT)–MNS–NCP (SP) alliance is expected to secure about 59 seats, while the Congress-led alliance may win around 23 seats.
