Counting of votes for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections began on Friday, with early trends showing a decisive lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to initial figures reported by television news channels, the BJP is leading in 101 of the 151 civic seats. Early trends are available for 128 seats so far.
The Congress is ahead in 29 seats, while the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is leading in three seats. Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (AP) and NCP (SP) are leading in one seat each. Independents are ahead in seven seats.
Counting is still underway and final results are awaited.
