A youth was killed in a brazen daylight attack following a dispute among handcart vendors at Santra Market, falling under the jurisdiction of the Tehsil police station, on Wednesday, January 21.
According to police sources, an argument over personal rivalry between vendors escalated into violence, during which the youth was assaulted and fatally injured. The incident occurred in a crowded market area, triggering panic among traders and customers present at the time.
Upon receiving information, Tehsil police rushed to the spot, secured the area, and initiated an investigation. Senior police officials also visited the scene. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, while teams began collecting evidence.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from surrounding establishments and recording statements of eyewitnesses to identify and trace the attackers. The murder in a busy commercial zone during daytime hours has once again raised concerns over safety and policing in crowded marketplaces.
