A significant burglary was reported in Manakapur after unidentified miscreants broke into two neighbouring liquor shops and fled with cash and alcohol valued at ?2,03,165, police said.
The incident, as detailed in a complaint by Nikhil Yashwant Wankhede (34), manager of Nupur Wine Shop, occurred between 10:30 PM on February 3 and 4:30 AM on February 4. The burglar forced open the shop shutter and made away with ?1.8 lakh cash, a mobile phone, several beer cans and bottles of foreign liquor.
The same accused also targeted the adjacent Orange City Beer Shopee, breaking the lock and stealing ?6,565 from the cash register.
Based on the complaint, Manakapur Police have registered an FIR under Sections 305(A), 331(2), and 331(4) of the IPC. PSI Amol Kamble is heading the investigation, with teams reviewing CCTV footage and conducting local inquiries to trace the suspect.
Police have advised shop owners in the locality to strengthen security measures as the search for the accused continues.
