A casual drinking session among labourers in Baba Budhaji Nagar ended in tragedy when a 40-year-old man was fatally assaulted by his friends late Sunday night. The incident took place under the Pachpaoli Police Station limits and has shocked residents of the area.
The victim has been identified as Ramesh alias Vaidya Mukundrao Masram (40), a resident of Taj Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, near NMC School.
Police have named and arrested the accused as:
Shankar Shripad Bhaisare (48), of Plot No. 43, Baba Budhaji Nagar
Kapil Ramprasad Nagrare (43), of Galli No. 3, Shashmooni School
Jaswantsingh Narendrasingh Adi (75), of Buddha Nagar, near Hanuman Mandir
Drinking Session Turns Violent
According to police, the group had gathered at Shankar’s residence for a liquor party. During the drinking session, a quarrel erupted between Ramesh and Shankar. In a sudden outburst of anger, Shankar allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and hit Ramesh on the head. The forceful blow caused severe bleeding, and Ramesh collapsed immediately.
The injured man was rushed to Mayo Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Case Registered, Accused in Custody
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, Pachpaoli Police registered an offence under Sections 103 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). All the accused have been taken into custody.
Police officials added that none of the labourers had any prior criminal record and that the incident appears to be the result of a drunken confrontation gone wrong.
