The city is poised for a significant upgrade in healthcare support and welfare delivery as the Maharashtra Government has entered major partnerships with Tata Trusts and the Naam Foundation. Under these agreements, six accredited hospitals in Nagpur will collaborate with the government to offer financial assistance and improved treatment access for needy patients. These partnerships will strengthen several social development initiatives that will first benefit Nagpur and eventually extend across the state.
A total of 12 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Tata Trusts and one with the Naam Foundation were signed at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that these collaborations will accelerate progress in crucial sectors such as health, nutrition, water conservation, and rural livelihoods. He emphasized that the collective efforts of the government and voluntary organizations will help ensure that no citizen in Maharashtra is deprived of essential treatment due to financial hardship.
Fadnavis highlighted that Maharashtra has worked closely with Tata Trusts for nearly a decade, benefiting from their expertise and socially impactful initiatives. The newly signed MoUs focus on strengthening maternal and child healthcare, enhancing telemedicine services, addressing childhood stunting and malnutrition, and promoting diversified nutrition. Additionally, they aim to assist farmers by supporting climate-resilient agriculture and livestock development.
The Chief Minister also underscored the meaningful role of the Naam Foundation in water conservation, especially in drought-affected Vidarbha and Marathwada. Their work—such as desilting lakes, widening rivers, and improving watershed structures—has been instrumental in enhancing the success of government programs like Jalyukt Shivar. Tata Trusts have also contributed to these water-related initiatives.
Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata shared that collaborating with the Maharashtra Government will help bring better coordination in programmes related to health, education, nutrition, sanitation, and livelihood development. He said the MoUs represent a structured, long-term strategy to improve the quality of life for citizens. Naam Foundation co-founder Nana Patekar expressed satisfaction with the support extended to their water conservation efforts.
The event saw the presence of Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal, Health Secretary Dr. Nipun Vinayak, Women and Child Development Secretary Anupkumar Yadav, and Tata Trusts CEO Siddharth Sharma, along with several officials from both organizations.
The agreements aim to support government priorities through technology-driven implementation, last-mile service delivery, and improved access to welfare schemes. Special emphasis will be laid on boosting emergency healthcare, rejuvenating water bodies, and strengthening nutrition programs in districts like Gadchiroli. The MoUs with Tata Trusts involve departments including Rural Development, Water Conservation, Public Health, Women & Child Development, as well as leading medical institutions such as AIIMS Nagpur, National Cancer Institute Nagpur, CARE Hospitals, CIIMS, Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission, and Midas Multispeciality Hospital. Naam Foundation signed a separate MoU with the Water Conservation Department.
