The Crime Branch Unit No. 2 unearthed an alleged cricket betting racket operating from a private property in the Hingna police station limits and booked four individuals for placing wagers on the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 fixture between UAE and Canada.
Based on specific intelligence, a police team conducted a late-evening raid at The Imperial Grand Bungalow – I2 in Kothewada, Gumgaon, at around 6.20 pm on February 13. During the operation, the suspects were allegedly caught accepting bets from punters through mobile phones.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Ramchandra Wadhwani (36) of Tilak Nagar, Bilaspur; Badal Madhukar Kurhadkar (35), a resident of Golibar Chowk, Timki; Lomesh Rajesh Arora (26) of Chitar Oli, Kotwali; and Amjadkhan Nawabkhan Pathan (48) from Bhaldarpura, Ganeshpeth.
Police confiscated two laptops, 14 mobile phones of various brands, and other electronic devices collectively valued at approximately ₹3,73,500. A case has been registered at Hingna Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal and senior officials of the city crime branch. Further investigation is in progress
