In a unique initiative promoting social awareness and inclusivity, the “Special Chess Tournament 2026 for Visually Impaired and Sighted Players” has been jointly organized by Ashadeep – Apang, Mahila-Bal Vikas Sanstha, the Chess Association, and Freemasons.
The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, 28 February 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at V.V. Mirashi Hall, Vidarbha Research Mandal परिसर, Plot No. 1, West High Court Road, Civil Lines, Nagpur. The event will be inaugurated by CA Sadanand Hajare, while the valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony will see the presence of CA Tejindrasingh Rawal, Education Officer Sujit Shinde, and Ashadeep Advisor L.B. Patil.
The primary aim of the tournament is to provide a level playing field for visually impaired and sighted players, fostering equality, confidence, and sportsmanship.
Dr. Pratima Shastri, President of Ashadeep, and Secretary Aparna Kulkarni have appealed to citizens to attend and support the initiative, highlighting its social significance in promoting inclusivity through sport.
