The term “Lineman” has always been associated with male employees, but Dipali Khobragade, currently working with Mahavitaran in Nagpur, has shattered this stereotype through her work and determination. On the occasion of ‘Lineman Day’ this March 4th, Dipali will be honored at a special ceremony in New Delhi at the national level.
Event Details
The event is being organized jointly by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Tata Power-DDL. Among the four employees selected from Maharashtra, Dipali is the only woman, making this a proud moment for both the city of Nagpur and Mahavitaran.
A Journey of Determination
Dipali Khobragade’s 12-year career with Mahavitaran is truly inspiring.
Early Career: She spent her first seven years working in challenging conditions in rural areas.
Current Role: For the past five years, she has been serving as a Senior Technician at the Old Shukrawari distribution center under the Mahal division in Nagpur.
Responsibilities: She capably handles a wide range of duties, from repairing technical faults in the power distribution network to bill collection and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply for consumers.
Philosophy and Impact
Dipali’s work is deeply rooted in values, with safety being her top priority. “Working without safety gear is an invitation to death, so using a PPE kit for my safety and the safety of my colleagues is my first duty,” she explains.
She considers the act of bringing light into customers’ homes and seeing their happiness as her primary source of motivation. Furthermore, she is a strong advocate for modern initiatives like Mahavitaran’s smart meter schemes and solar energy projects. Her achievements in this technical field will undoubtedly serve as an encouragement for many young women to pursue similar careers in the future.
