The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is converting the area beneath the Narendra Nagar Flyover into a dedicated multi-sports and recreational facility for children and youth. Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari reviewed the ongoing development works during an inspection on Friday and instructed officials to speed up the project’s completion.The civic body plans to introduce facilities such as pickleball, badminton, paddle games, a skating rink, box cricket and other multi-sport activities within the space under the flyover.
During his visit, the Commissioner assessed the site and directed concerned departments to promptly install iron barricades and demarcate designated play zones without delay.Stressing the importance of timely execution, Dr Chaudhari also called for the installation of synthetic turf in children’s play areas to ensure greater safety and improved usability.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow progress, he urged officials to accelerate the pace of work and prevent further setbacks.He further instructed that sufficient parking facilities be arranged for parents bringing their children to the upcoming sports hub.Corporator Vishakha Mohod, Chief Engineer Manoj Talewar, Executive Engineer Alpana Patne and Sports Officer Dr Piyush Ambulkar were present during the inspection. Assistant Commissioner of Dhantoli Zone Pramod Wankhede and Deputy Engineer Rajendra Jivatode also attended the review meeting.
