A disturbing incident from the Koradi area of Nagpur district has sparked widespread outrage after CCTV footage captured an elderly woman allegedly pouring hot water on a five-year-old boy during Rangpanchami celebrations. The video, recorded near Aramshin in Koradi, is now circulating widely on social media.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 8:30 AM on Tuesday when the young boy was playing outside with a pichkari, spraying coloured water as part of the festival. While playing, he reportedly splashed water on a neighbouring elderly woman passing by. Enraged by this, the woman is seen in the footage throwing a bucket of hot water over the child.
The hot water allegedly caused burns on the lower part of the boy’s body. Although cold water was poured on him immediately afterward, the child is believed to have suffered noticeable injuries. The shocking visuals, captured on a neighbour’s CCTV camera, have quickly gone viral and become a subject of intense social media discussion.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, no formal complaint has been registered, confirmed Police Inspector Popatrao Dhaytonde of Koradi Police Station. “There are prima facie burn injuries, but no parent has approached us even after more than 24 hours. We suspect the elderly woman might be the child’s grandmother, which may explain why no complaint has been filed,” PI Dhaytonde stated.
Koradi Police are currently examining the viral footage and attempting to identify all individuals involved. Further action will be taken if a complaint is lodged or if the situation warrants suo-motu intervention.
