A traffic police constable sustained serious injuries after two youths rammed their speeding moped into him while trying to evade a Holi-related checkpoint at Chandra Shekhar Azad Square, Lakadganj on Tuesday.The incident occurred at around 6:10 PM when a Hero Maestro (MH-49 P-3959) with two riders approached the blockade at high speed, driving recklessly to avoid inspection. The vehicle struck Police Constable Sanjay Gite with force, after which the moped collided with a road divider.Both accused attempted to flee but were chased down and detained by the police team.The arrested individuals are Rupesh Kileshwar Uike (23) — Swatantrya Nagar, Nandanvan Slums and Gaurav Gyaneshwar Chavan (21) — Galli No. 9, near Atta Chakki, Nandanvan SlumsConstable Gite suffered serious injuries to his head, arms, and legs and is currently undergoing treatment at New Era Hospital.Police stated that the accused were fully aware that such an impact could be fatal, yet they intentionally rammed into the officer to escape, amounting to an attempt to murder.A case has been registered at Lakadganj Police Station under Section 109 of the BNS and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act,
