A 31-year-old woman working in event management has alleged that she was gangraped by three men after being forced to consume alcohol at her residence. The accused allegedly threatened to circulate an obscene video of the assault and coerced her into travelling to Pushkar in Rajasthan.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Jaripatka police station. Police have registered a case against three individuals, including one accused originally from Haryana who currently resides in the Butibori area. The other two accused are residents of the city.
According to the police complaint, the woman first came in contact with the main accused through social media. Their interaction gradually developed into a romantic relationship. The accused later invited her to celebrate Holi in Pushkar, describing it as a popular festival that attracts a large number of foreign tourists.
On March 2, the main accused allegedly arrived at the woman’s residence in Jaripatka along with two associates. It is alleged that the three men consumed alcohol at her home and forced the woman to drink as well.
Police said the accused then allegedly took turns sexually assaulting the woman. During the assault, one of the accused is believed to have recorded an obscene video of the victim.
The trio reportedly threatened to make the video viral if the woman refused to comply with their demand to travel with them to Pushkar. Fearing the circulation of the video, the woman accompanied them to Rajasthan.
According to the complaint, after reaching Pushkar, the accused allegedly abandoned the woman and fled the location. She later managed to return to Nagpur and subsequently approached the Jaripatka police station to lodge a complaint.
Police have registered a case of gangrape and initiated an investigation into the matter. Officials stated that further inquiry is underway to verify the details of the incident and determine the sequence of events.
