Akola Hottest in India as Vidarbha Faces Early Summer Heat
Akola recorded a scorching 40.4°C on Monday, making it the hottest city in India for the second consecutive day. The early summer heat has intensified across Vidarbha, with several cities nearing or crossing the 40°C mark.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, heat-wave conditions may persist until March 13. Nagpur recorded 38.2°C, about 5°C above normal, while cities such as Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal hovered around 39°C.
Experts say temperatures usually peak in late March, but this year the heat has arrived earlier. Meanwhile, Chandrapur, Gondia and Buldhana also recorded temperatures close to 38°C, indicating a broader heat surge across the region.
