The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed a budget of ₹5,541.31 crore for the financial year 2026–27, placing major emphasis on strengthening infrastructure and improving civic amenities across the city. The budget was presented by Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar.
The civic body has outlined plans to enhance basic services such as road development, water supply, drainage systems, public health facilities and solid waste management. The proposed financial plan also aims to support ongoing urban development projects and improve the overall quality of municipal services.
As per the budget estimates, the corporation expects total revenue of ₹5,541.31 crore in 2026–27. The budget has been prepared under the provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act and also includes revised financial estimates for the year 2025–26.
For the current financial year 2025–26, the civic body has projected a net income of ₹4,702.75 crore. With an opening balance of ₹698.87 crore, the total revised income stands at ₹5,401.62 crore, while the estimated expenditure for the year is ₹5,085.63 crore.
Looking ahead to 2026–27, the municipal administration has proposed total expenditure of ₹5,840.65 crore. Of this amount, ₹4,358.56 crore has been allocated for administrative and development works, while ₹1,482.09 crore will be spent on water supply and sewerage-related projects.
The budget also includes allocations for the city’s public transport services. The corporation has set aside ₹170 crore for the transport undertaking in 2025–26 and proposed ₹160 crore for the following financial year.
A significant portion of the projected revenue, about ₹3,889.48 crore, is expected to come from the corporation’s internal sources, while ₹1,651.83 crore will be received through grants from the state and central governments.
The proposed budget will now be reviewed by the Standing Committee before being placed before the general body of the corporation for final approval.
