Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on March 15 announced that all domestic LPG consumers must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication or e-KYC to continue receiving LPG services and subsidies.
The ministry said the verification process can now be completed from home using a smartphone through the official mobile apps of oil marketing companies along with the Aadhaar FaceRD app.
In a post shared on X, the ministry said: “All domestic LPG consumers are required to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (e-KYC). Now verify from the comfort of your home using your Oil Marketing Company’s mobile app and Aadhaar FaceRD app.”
New LPG Aadhaar e-KYC Rule
Under the new directive, LPG users must link and authenticate their Aadhaar through biometric verification. The rule applies to consumers of LPG connections provided by public sector oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The government said the process is simple and can be completed digitally without visiting an LPG distributor. Consumers can use their respective oil company’s mobile app and complete facial authentication through the Aadhaar FaceRD application.
How to Complete LPG Biometric Aadhaar Authentication
Step 1: Visit the official link: https://www.pmuy.gov.in/e-kyc.html
Step 2: Download your Oil Marketing Company’s mobile app (IOCL, BPCL or HPCL) along with the Aadhaar FaceRD app.
Step 3: Follow the instructions and complete facial biometric authentication using the Aadhaar FaceRD app.
Step 4: Once verification is successful, the consumer’s LPG account will be authenticated.
Important Notice for Ujjwala Scheme Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana must complete biometric Aadhaar authentication every financial year before their first LPG refill. If e-KYC is not completed, LPG subsidy and refill supply may be stopped until authentication is done.
However, the ministry clarified that once authentication is completed in a financial year, it will not need to be repeated within the same year.
