Continuing its intensified action against substance abuse under the “Operation Thunder” campaign, Ambazari police have registered a criminal case against the operators of an unauthorised hookah parlour operating from Sky Restaurant & Cafe (Tamasha) in Ramnagar.
The special drive, initiated under the leadership of Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, targets illegal sale and consumption of narcotic and tobacco-based products across the city.
On March 20, 2026, between 6.40 pm and 8 pm, a police team conducted a raid at the restaurant located in Bhagwati Heights on Ramnagar Main Road following specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, two individuals — Brijesh Brijprasad Pal (35) of Savner and Prakash Bhupendra Khadka (28) of Sadar — were allegedly found running the hookah facility without requisite permissions for monetary gain.
Three customers present at the spot were also identified. Police seized hookah pots, flavoured tobacco products and other related materials collectively valued at Rs. 10,500.
A case has been registered at Ambazari Police Station under Section 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, and the Maharashtra Amendment Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway.
The action was executed under the supervision of DCP Nityanand Jha and ACP Kiran Popalghat, with Senior PI Vinod Godbole and his team carrying out the raid.
