Nagpur is witnessing a sharp spike in panic buying of fuel, leading to long queues and temporary disruptions at several petrol pumps across the city. The situation intensified on Wednesday morning after rumours spread about petrol shortage and possible closure of fuel stations. The petrol pump at Medical Square has reportedly been shut, adding to earlier reports of the Shankarnagar pump being closed. At Bhole Petrol Pump, petrol stock has been exhausted, with only diesel being supplied, further fuelling anxiety among citizens.

Ground reports indicate that several pumps have started rationing fuel to manage the overwhelming demand. At a Bharat Petrol Pump on Godhani Road, supply has been restricted — ₹1000 worth of petrol for four-wheelers and ₹200 for two-wheelers — in an attempt to ensure availability for more people.

Visuals from multiple locations show long queues stretching onto main roads, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience. Despite the situation on the ground, district administration and fuel dealers have clarified that there is no actual shortage of petrol or diesel, and supply chains remain intact. Officials have appealed to citizens not to believe in rumours or engage in panic buying, warning that such behaviour is the primary reason behind temporary shortages and operational disruptions at pumps.
