India’s Vaishnavi Adkar and Russia’s E Yashina stormed into the quarterfinals of the MSLTA NDHTA ITF15K Women’s World Tennis Tour at Ram Nagar Courts on Thursday, thrilling fans with their skill and determination.
Top seed Vaishnavi Adkar produced the longest match of the day, overcoming Ksenia Laskutova in three sets. Vaishnavi took the first set 6-4, but lost focus in the second to go down 1-6. Demonstrating resilience and composure, she bounced back in the decider to claim it 6-3 and secure her place in the last eight. Fifth-seeded E Yashina of Russia also advanced, defeating India’s Jennifer Luikham 7-5, 6-2.
The day brought disappointment for fourth seed Ankita Raina, who withdrew due to health reasons, allowing Sonal Patil a place in the quarterfinals.
In other pre-quarter action, A Kuparev (S8) defeated Saily Thakkar 6-2, 6-2, while Z Kulambayeva (S2) recovered from a first-set loss to Pooja Ingale to win 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-1. Zeel Desai (S3) beat E Khodzhaeva 7-5, 6-3, E Nepliy (S6) overcame Sevil Yuldasheva 6-1, 6-3, and Kashish Bhatia dominated Madhurima Sawant 6-4, 6-2.
The quarterfinals will feature top seeds Vaishnavi Adkar, Z Kulambayeva, Zeel Desai, E Yashina, E Nepliy, and A Kuparev, alongside unseeded Kashish Bhatia and Sonal Patil. With minimal unforced errors and precise play, the tournament is showcasing high-quality tennis. Doubles matches continue alongside singles, with doubles semifinals on Friday and singles semifinals and finals scheduled for the weekend.
