Panic gripped the railway administration in Nagpur after reports emerged that a Balaghat–Itwari MEMU train derailed near Pili Nadi between Kamthi and Kalamna stations. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the incident.
According to initial information, the incident occurred shortly after the train (No. 68715) crossed Kamthi station while en route from Balaghat to Itwari. Two wheels of a coach attached next to the engine (Coach No. 128070) reportedly slipped off the track, triggering panic among passengers inside the compartment.
Senior officials of the South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the derailment. Railway teams immediately began restoration work to re-rail the affected coach and repair the track.
Efforts were underway till late night to restore normal train movement on the route. Authorities have launched a preliminary assessment to ascertain the cause of the derailment.
