Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be conducting its 39 th
Convocation on 7 th April 2026. The main function will be held at IGNOU Headquarters, New
Delhi. The Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri. C. P. Radhakrishnan, will be the
Chief Guest and will deliver the Convocation address at the main function.
IGNOU Regional Centre Nagpur is organizing this Convocation at SHALOM Auditorium,
Hislop College. In this 39th Convocation, a total of 1,373 learners are being conferred
degrees, including learners from prison study centres. Hon’ble Dr. Bhimaraya Metri,
Director, Indian Institute of Management Nagpur, will be the Guest of Honour at the
Nagpur ceremony and deliver the Regional Convocation Address.
It is a moment of immense pride and inspiration for IGNOU Regional Centre, Nagpur, that
87-year-old Dr. Purushottam Shukla has completed M.A. (Psychology) and 85
year old Dr. Digambar Alsi has completed M.A. (Development Studies), proving
that learning knows no age and determination leads to lifelong success and academic
excellence. Dr. Alsi has completed five programmes from IGNOU RC Nagpur, and is now
pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental and Sustainable Development.
The Convocation will be held simultaneously at Headquarters and 55 Regional Centres at
a time throughout India. The live Program will be Telecast on Gyan Darshan TV Channel,
