A thrilling new experience is set to arrive in Nagpur, with residents expected to enjoy it within the next fortnight. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is introducing adventure net climbing setups in select city gardens—an initiative officials say is the first of its kind in Maharashtra.
The installations will be set up at Lata Mangeshkar Garden, Shivaji Nagar Garden, Mahatma Phule Garden, and a garden in KT Nagar, Mangalwari zone. The project has been awarded for Rs75 lakh against an estimated Rs1 crore and is expected to be completed within two weeks, said deputy commissioner Ganesh Rathod.
Officials said the concept, designed with youth in mind, is likely to draw strong interest. Typically associated with military-style training, such adventure setups are now being introduced in public parks. The equipment will include multi-level climbing nets, slides, hanging structures, tunnel games, balance beams, and rope-based challenges, offering both recreation and fitness opportunities for all age groups.
The initiative aims to channel the energy of young people into outdoor activities while enhancing the appeal of city gardens. For now, the project covers four locations, with scope for expansion based on public response.
NMC has also ensured that maintenance remains simple and cost-effective. Officials added that the installations will occupy only about 10% of the garden area, preserving the existing green spaces.
