The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated preparations for the upcoming national census, which will be conducted entirely through a digital and paperless system this year. In this regard, training of field trainers by master trainers commenced on Monday (April 6) at the NMC headquarters and Laxminagar Zone.
Municipal Commissioner and Chief Census Officer Dr. Vipin directed all officials to ensure accuracy and transparency in the census process and to complete the work on priority. He emphasized that census is a crucial national exercise, and the data collected plays a vital role in planning and implementing various public welfare schemes.Additional Commissioner Ankit, City Census Officer Nirbhay Jain, and Assistant Census Officer Amol Chaurpagar were present during the session. Addressing the trainees, Dr. Vipin urged them to carry out the census duties with a sense of responsibility and active participation.
A total of 91 trainees are undergoing the training, out of which 60 field trainers are currently being trained over a three-day session, while the remaining 31 trainees will be trained from April 9. The sessions are being conducted by four master trainers.
Dr. Vipin stressed the importance of avoiding errors and maintaining transparency throughout the census process. He instructed officials to effectively utilize digital tools, understand data collection methods thoroughly, and promptly address any challenges faced during fieldwork. He also called for coordinated and responsible execution of duties.
For the census exercise, the NMC has deployed around 4,500 enumerators and 700 supervisors. Each enumerator will collect data from approximately 800 citizens. A field visit has also been scheduled on April 8 as part of the training program. Master trainers Subhash Upase, Pranay Kadulkar, Deepika Gaikwad, and Ramchandra Nimbalkar are conducting the sessions.
