Tension flared up at an LPG gas agency godown in the Jaripatka area of Nagpur on Wednesday after a severe shortage of LPG cylinders triggered chaos. Several residents, who had gathered since morning with empty cylinders for refilling, allegedly fled with filled cylinders after waiting for hours without any supply.
According to reports, the incident took place at an HP Gas agency, where a large number of people had queued up due to an ongoing LPG shortage in the area. Frustration mounted among residents as supplies failed to arrive even after prolonged waiting, leading to a heated situation and eventual commotion at the godown.
As the situation escalated, some individuals reportedly entered the godown premises and took away LPG cylinders. The agency staff immediately alerted the police, following which a team rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Officials from the godown stated that the unrest was a result of the acute gas shortage, which led to arguments and minor scuffles. While some individuals have returned the cylinders they had taken, a few are yet to return them. Authorities are currently assessing the situation and further action is underway.
