At least nine people were killed and 15 others injured after a major boiler explosion at a Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitarai village of Sakti district, Chhattisgarh, triggering panic in the area.The blast caused chaos inside the plant, with workers rushing to escape, leading to a stampede-like situation. Around 30–40 workers are reported to have sustained serious injuries, with several in critical condition.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be confirmed.Sakti Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur said nine people lost their lives in the incident, while the injured were shifted to a hospital in Raigarh.Emergency response teams and local authorities reached the site soon after the incident and began rescue operations.
According to preliminary information, the explosion occurred around 2 pm when workers were inside the plant carrying out their duties. Relief and rescue efforts were launched immediately after the blast.
