Nagpur’s evening commute took an unexpected twist on Sunday as a Metro train became a lively fitness arena, merging exercise and entertainment on the tracks. The event, dubbed the ‘run and fitness party,’ turned what might have been just another ride into a vibrant wellness experience.
Organized under MahaMetro’s ‘Celebration on Wheels’ initiative, all three coaches of a Metro train were exclusively booked for nearly two hours starting at 6 PM from Zero Mile Metro station. Over 70 participants arrived ready to transform their commute into an energetic workout zone.
The session kicked off with a push-up challenge among the boys, followed by friendly competitions featuring squats led by the girls. Adding to the fun, participants cheered during a milk-chugging contest that broke away from traditional workout routines. After about an hour of exercises, the atmosphere shifted as music filled the coaches, allowing everyone to dance freely and keep the energy high.
Kunal Sharawat, founder of a local running club in Nagpur, explained that this event aimed to make fitness more engaging while fostering community spirit among attendees. “The format is designed to combine exercise with enjoyment,” he noted. This approach makes fitness accessible to more people.
Sharawat emphasized that all necessary permissions were secured and safety protocols were strictly followed throughout the event. A senior official confirmed that permission was granted only after thorough discussions about guidelines.
MahaMetro’s innovative ‘Celebration on Wheels’ concept not only offers unique events within Metro coaches but also demonstrates how public transport can creatively adapt without compromising its primary function.
