Central Railway, Nagpur Division intensified its drive against illegal e-ticketing activities, taking decisive action, following inputs received from headquarters.
Acting on the information, officials of CIB/Nagpur, including ASI Shri R. K. Bharti and Constable Shri Harvinder Singh, initiated verification by contacting the mobile number flagged in the data. During the inquiry, an individual identified as Mohammad Aslam Tumbi appeared before the team.
On examination, it was revealed that multiple personal user IDs were being misused for generating railway e-tickets. A total of 07 IDs were found on the mobile phone, out of which 06 were actively used. These IDs were linked to 05 live e-tickets worth ₹13,609.85 and 62 previously used tickets valued at ₹83,408.70.
The accused admitted to booking tickets for customers by charging an extra commission of ₹30 to ₹50 per ticket, using unauthorized means and a bank account in his wife’s name.
Railway Protection Force seized 67 e-tickets worth ₹97,018.55 along with one mobile phone. The accused has been handed over to RPF Nagpur for further legal action, and investigation is ongoing.
