A major mishap was averted after a car caught fire at the busy Laxmi Nagar Square in Nagpur at around 2:15 pm on Thursday, causing panic among commuters and onlookers. According to preliminary information, the fire reportedly broke out in the vehicle due to a suspected technical snag, and flames soon engulfed the front portion of the car.
On receiving the alert, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and launched an immediate operation to douse the flames. The blaze was brought under control before it could spread or cause further damage in the crowded junction. No casualties were reported in the incident, though the vehicle was partially gutted in the fire. The timely response of the fire department helped prevent a major accident. Further inquiry into the cause of the fire is underway.
