The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has implemented the “Nagpur City Heat Action Plan-2026” across its network, following instructions from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, to protect passengers and staff during the harsh summer.
Metro stations are now equipped with drinking water coolers, fans and designated rest areas to help commuters stay comfortable. First-aid facilities have also been arranged to handle any emergencies.
Awareness campaigns are being conducted through signboards, Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) and regular announcements, guiding commuters on how to prevent heatstroke.
Special steps have also been taken for workers, including revised work timings during cooler hours, shaded rest areas, hydration stations and distribution of ORS. Workers are being trained to identify signs of heat stress and are monitored through a buddy system. Cooling arrangements have also been set up at rest zones and labour camps.
Maha Metro has urged passengers to take precautions and cooperate for safe travel during the summer.
