A wave of grief swept through Nagpur’s Lakadganj area after a tragic incident in which a 13-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide at his residence on Tuesday morning, leaving the local community shocked and devastated.
The deceased has been identified as Hashir Shahnu Shah, a Class 7 student residing near Azamshah Chowk with his family. According to police information, the incident came to light around 7.30 am on April 28 when the boy reportedly went to the second floor of the house and hanged himself using a scarf tied to a railing.
Family members immediately rushed him to Mayo Hospital in the hope of saving him, but doctors declared him dead after examination.
Based on a complaint lodged by the boy’s father, Shahnu Rafiq Shah, the Lakadganj Police registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the matter. Police officials said the reason behind the extreme step is still unclear and all possible angles are being examined.
No suicide note has been recovered so far. The incident has left the family, neighbours, and school community in deep mourning over the untimely death of the young student.
