Ten researchers will be given scholarships.
Maharashtra Government has decided to establish Bharatratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chair at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The scholars pursuing doctoral degree through the Chair will be given scholarships by the state government. The decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The decision has been taken to take Dr Ambedkar thoughts at international level and to spread his message of society based on social justice, political democracy, economic equality, and human rights. With the inter-disciplinary research at international level the existing policies can be reviewed for the necessary corrections. Annual lectures and seminars will be organised.
Teachers in various subjects including law, administration, philosophy, economics, public policies from London School of Economics will be engaged in imparting knowledge to the students and research scholars. Later the teachers at international level will be selected for the purpose.
An amount of 37,13,82,300 pounds will be made available for establishing Dr Ambedkar Chair. BARTI will select ten scholars for the doctoral research. The scheme will be implemented from the academic year 2027-2028 and four- years will be allowed for completing the research work. The applications will be scrutinised by a Committee of the London School of Economics.
