The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has initiated action against 14 teachers from Bharati Krishna Vidya Vihar High School, Telangkhedi, for allegedly refusing to perform duties related to Census 2027, a national exercise being undertaken under the directions of the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.According to a press release issued by the Dharampeth Zone No. 2 office, the teachers had been appointed as enumerators and supervisors for Census-2027. However, despite orders being issued as per the list submitted by the school principal, some teachers reportedly expressed unwillingness to undertake the assignment and submitted applications citing inability to perform the work. Authorities said show-cause notices were subsequently issued, but the concerned teachers allegedly refused to accept the notices.Assistant Commissioner and In Charge Officer of the Census Department, Dharampeth Zone No. 2, stated that as the teachers’ conduct was viewed as creating obstruction in a national assignment, action to register police cases against the 14 teachers is being initiated as per the directions of the Municipal Commissioner. The matter has also been forwarded to the civic public relations department for wider publicity.
