The price of commercial LPG cylinders has increased by nearly Rs 1,000 from May 1, while domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.
Following the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has crossed Rs 3,200 in most places. In Nagpur, the rate of a commercial LPG cylinder has reached Rs 3,248. The steep hike comes amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which continues without signs of a lasting truce.
Since the conflict began, the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder had already gone up by Rs 60. However, no further increase has been announced for domestic cylinders or 5-kg LPG cylinders. In contrast, commercial cylinder prices have surged sharply from around Rs 1,850 in February to over Rs 3,200 now.
Till April 30, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder stood at Rs 2,078.50 in New Delhi, Rs 2,208.50 in Kolkata, Rs 2,031 in Mumbai and Rs 2,246.50 in Chennai.

The steep increase in commercial LPG prices is expected to make eating out more expensive. Several eateries had already revised food prices after earlier hikes in commercial cylinder rates, and the latest increase is likely to trigger another round of price revisions.
Meanwhile, LPG booking norms have also become stricter following supply disruptions caused by the US-Iran conflict, which impacted natural gas supplies more severely than crude oil. Consumers in urban areas must now wait 25 days between bookings, compared to the earlier 21-day gap. In rural areas, the waiting period can extend up to 45 days. No further changes have been announced in the booking rules.
