South Central Region Cultural Centre , Nagpur , Ministry of Culture , Government of India organizes new programs regularly . In this, training workshops under “ Kala Ko Jano ” are also organized by the center on an ongoing basis The purpose of the workshops is to keep the various arts of the country alive and to train the new generation in the arts For this purpose , “Chhau Dance Workshop” is being organized by South Central Region Cultural Center , Nagpur from 5th to 15th May 2026 at South Central Region Cultural Center , Nagpur campus .
The performance of Chhau Nritya at the 32nd Orange City Craft Mela and Folk Dance Festival was highly appreciated by the people of Nagpur . So, in view of this enthusiasm of the citizens , this workshop is being organized by the Centre
Chhau dance trainingIt will be given by eminent Acharya and Choreographer Padmashri Guru Shashadhar Acharya He was born in a traditional artist family in Seraikela , Jharkhand. They are representatives of the fifth generation of this art. Having received his initial education from Guru Lingaraj Acharya, he trained under Padmashri Sudhendra Narayan Singh Dev and other gurus. For more than four decades, he has represented India in more than 75 countries and national festivals with unique performances.
To Guru Shashadhar Acharya He has been honored at many national and international levels including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award , Padma Shri Samman . He is currently teaching at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi and is continuously working for the preservation and conservation of Seraikela Chhau dance.
All three styles of chhau dance will be trained in this workshop It includes Purulia , Seraikela , Mayurbhanj This workshop will be held in two sessions Following is the outline of this 10 day workshop.

* Age Limit :- 10 years to 35 years
The main focus of the workshop will be on the following topics:
1. Refresh the body through Chhau Nritya inspired exercises.
2. Sword and bamboo fighting techniques based on traditional methods.
3. Get inspired by the postures of natural elements , animals , birds , wild animals and mythological characters.
