A significant meeting of environmental groups and local residents was held at Khamla to protect the green belt along London Street. The initiative, led by the platform “Save Greenery of London Street,” brought together multiple organizations and concerned citizens to discuss strategies for preserving the area’s valuable tree cover.
Key attendees included R.J. Preeti Patel and Shivam Hajare (Save Greenery), Nandu Mankar (Deepstambh), Nitesh Chaudhary (TRA Foundation), Naresh Kshirsagar (Pioneer Orion Society), Advocate Bhongade, corporator Ishwar Dhengle, corporator Mayatai Hade, Anusaya Kale, and Sachin Dravekar. They briefed citizens on the importance of the initiative and the urgent need to safeguard the existing greenery.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to submit a formal representation to the Chief Minister and Union Ministers, urging intervention to protect the trees. Participants also resolved to launch a public awareness campaign promoting environmentally responsible development and to collectively push for policy-level action.
Residents actively contributed suggestions during the discussion, reflecting strong community engagement. Over 50 office bearers and citizens attended the meeting. The session was introduced by R.J. Preeti Patel, anchored by Shravan Farkade, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Nandekar. Organizers Jayant Parate, Naresh Kshirsagar, Chitesh Popat, and Bhupesh Nandekar played key roles in ensuring the success of the event.
