Two IndiGo flights were forced to make emergency landings at Nagpur Airport on Tuesday night after severe weather conditions and poor visibility disrupted air traffic in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.According to reports, heavy rainfall, strong winds, and dense cloud cover in Raipur led to low visibility, making it unsafe for aircraft operations.
As a precautionary measure, both flights were diverted to Nagpur and landed safely. The Kolkata–Raipur flight (6E 417), which was scheduled to land in Raipur at around 5:35 pm, could not descend due to bad weather and later made an emergency landing in Nagpur at around 7:43 pm.Similarly, the Raipur–Ahmedabad flight (6E 6194), which had departed at approximately 6:58 pm, was also diverted because of deteriorating weather conditions and safely landed at Nagpur Airport around 8:09 pm.
All passengers on board both flights are reported to be safe. Passengers were accommodated at the Nagpur airport terminal while authorities monitored the weather situation in Raipur.Officials said strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 60 kmph and sudden weather changes severely affected visibility and air traffic movement in the region.
